MAY 24TH - ATTACK OF THE 50 FOOT MARBLES
Welcome to The Western Front - 120m of music, news, and views. We broadcast across the Front Range on alternate Wednesdays from 9-11 pm MT.
Audio Archive:
We're back again with another episode of fun and excitement for your radio. In case you didn't know, KGNU fell a little short during the 2006 Spring Fundraiser. So if you didn't get a chance you can still donate by calling 303.449.4885 or by simply clicking here. Do it. Do it, now!
Tune in this evening to hear a few guest sets from DJ DSRN, we'll check in on a sound sculpture from Somnambulist, and you can grab a bunch of free mp3s, compliments of Joel davis. All that plus the latest news. Rob Bell is the Cap'n... let it happen.
FEATURES FOR THIS EVENING:
Guest Set: DJ DSRN:
DJ DSRN temporarily deserts his post on Eclipse to drop some beats on the The Western Front. That's right, the sound you hear is DSRN diggin' in the crates and flippin' some plates... can you spell 'Thump'?
The Free Set:
Joel Davis drops his nets on the other side of his internet ship and, ohhh man... is there some sweet digital fish floppin' around in there. That's right... the latest and the greatest free mp3s, hand selected by the 'unstumpable' Joel Davis.
2, 4, 6, 8, Let's All Somnambulate:
KGNU's very own Somnambulist cuts up of a lecture and some soundscapes for an exploration of the effects of music on the voice and voice on music. Using as his sources this time around the Somnambulist treats us to the voice of poet, scholar, novelist and black revolutionary Amiri Baraka, with musical backing coming from the German "glitch, dub" maestro himself Jan Jelinek.
Inch Listening:
The one and only Rob Bell serves up 7 inches of audio excitement for your radio. It's the very best of Rob's personal 7 inch record collection, featuring local talents (past & present) from across the metro area.
