MARCH 22ND - RED LEATHER... YELLOW LEATHER

Welcome to The Western Front - 120m of music, news, and views. We broadcast across the Front Range on alternate Wednesdays from 9-11 pm MT.

Audio Archive:

We're back again with another dose of the good stuff. This time out we'll hear a few adventurous sets from our special guest DJ Makyo, Joe King takes us back on the internets with a special focus on remix culture - he'll check in with Nate Harrison for an enlightening conversation about the impact of 6 seconds of audio from over thirty years ago. Plus Rob Bell takes us on a tour of the sounds of the town... rewound. All that plus, the latest news, some more free mp3's and our picks of what to do with your fabulous weekend. John Schaefer hops in the command center to keep the transmitter thumpin'.

FEATURES FOR THIS EVENING:

Guest DJ: DJ Makyo:

DJ Makyo, also known as Bobby Collins, swings by to play a set of some of his favorites. We'll also chat about some exciting gigs coming up for him - including opening for Kid Koala @ Cervante's. Turn up your radio and shake the snow off your shack.

Amen Brother:

Joe King takes us back "On The Internets" for a conversation with Nate Harrison. Nate produced an incredible exploration into the "Amen" break, perhaps the most significant artifact in the history of Hip Hop and Electronic music. He chats with Joe about why he finds it so fascinating. Mesmerize yourself with the full production of "Can I Get an Amen?"

The Weekender:

Matt Clark runs down all the events to keep your eyes and ears peeled for this weekend. He's been up all night scouring through the card catalog and scanning spools of microfiche to bring you the most comprehensive weekend outlook available on the front range... or something like that.

Rewound: Sounds of the Town:

Rob Bell takes us on an audio tour of The Western Front live archives to catch us up on all of the incredible performances that have been happening on the show. He does this only two weeks before we ask for your support during the KGNU Spring Fundraiser. Coincidence? Perhaps...

The Free Set:

Oh yes... another spine-tingling edition of "The Free Set" - a set of music made up of free mp3s that you can download legally on the internet. Tonight, Matt Clark exposes his digital booty. Next time will you be the one finding the tunes? Send us the links to your 12m mp3 set and maybe you'll be our new hero!
