JANUARY 19TH - THE FIRST SHOW:

Welcome to "The Western Front" - KGNU's experimental magazine show, delivering an action-packed variety of news, sounds, and a few other suprises (from 9-11 pm) for our peeps along the Front Range.

This is our first attempt at a rather ambitous new radio project for KGNU! Tonight we'll chat a bit with some folks who don't want McDonald's wrappers all over their neighborhood, we'll experiment in "flash theater" with the good folks of Buntport, we'll chat with turntablist extraordinaire Kid Koala, we'll wrap our head around the latest news, stuff our ears with the latest tunes, and so much more. We'd love to tell you more about what it'll sound like, but we've never heard it before... Rob Bell will be your guide... he's nice... you'll like him!

FEATURES FOR THIS EVENING:

McMad in the Mayfair-Park Hill Area:

KGNU's Liz Lane chats with Kumella Aiu of McMad - a collection of Mayfair-Park Hill neighbors who are trying to stop the construction of a McDonald's in their backyards. Find out what they're doing to stop Mayor McCheese. You can go here to find out more info about the organization. You can also help in the effort.

Buntport Theater Makes an Instant Radio Drama:

As if we're going to spill the beans about what Buntport Theater will be doing on the program this evening! You'll have to tune in to get the lowdown from the Hoedown. Yes, please drop your hoe!

Kid Koala Interview:

In case you don't already know, Kid Koala is one of the most amazing turntablists on the planet. KGNU's very own Sam Fuqua catches up with Kid Koala to get the scoop on his approach to composition and his attempts to use the turntable as an improvisational melodic instrument.

The Free Set:

KGNU's very own Joel Davis takes over the controls to bring you an eclectic musical presentation. Only Joel knows where our ears are headed, but one thing's for sure... if you like what you hear you can go right ahead and download it, it's absolutely legal and FREE! Muhahaha!

Oh, Those Internets:

We've scanned the 'internets' to find some rather intriguing sites... like this one about an unidentified swimming object. Guess the theme of the sites we're presenting and you can win a fabulous musical compilation.
